The excitement surrounding “The Last of Us Part 2” is now at a boiling point as Sony and Naughty Dog are slated to show off the game tomorrow at a media event. The developers have been quiet after revealing the sequel in last year’s E3, and it appears they’re ready to break that silence.
It’s expected that new gameplay footage will be showcased by the said event, as well as information when “The Last of Us Part 2” will hit the shelves. Speaking of which, a new rumor has sprouted on the web claiming that the highly-anticipated title will arrive on Feb. 28, 2020.
Swiss retailer Softridge listed “The Last of Us Part 2” on that date ahead of Naughty Dog’s presentation. Of course, given that the studio and Sony have not confirmed this information, it’s best to take it with a grain of salt for now. This is especially true since it may only be a placeholder date for the game.
The Last of Us Part 2 provides a clue about Dina’s fate
Meanwhile, Naughty Dog is attempting to add more fuel to the hype train as the studio released three short clips for “The Last of Us Part 2.” The most interesting among them showed a bracelet with a hand-eye design on its band.
Eagle-eyed fans were quick to notice that it was the same bracelet that Dina wore when she danced with Ellie in the 11-minute gameplay reveal. The team also captioned the post with the same dialogue that Dina said in one of the scenes. It’s been widely speculated that Ellie’s anger may be due to the Seraphites – a dangerous cult in “The Last of Us Part 2” – may be the ones responsible for Dina’s death.
The Last of Us Part 2 expected to be a heartbreaking story
However, going by Naughty Dog’s penchant for heart-wrenching narratives, the writers may have given Dina a darker fate. Indeed, even voice actress Ashley Johnson teased that the “The Last of Us Part 2” will be quite an emotional rollercoaster. The statement has been backed by voice actor Troy Baker who previously said that fans are not ready for this sequel, hinting that the writers have concocted something even more heartbreaking than what the first game delivered.
In any case, we’ll soon be hearing about “The Last of Us Part 2” tomorrow. And as Naughty Dog warned in one of the videos, fans better watch their backs.
