‘The Big Bang Theory’ season 10 is set to feature the return of Mayim Bialik as Amy Fowler. The actress admitted that she was alright with an Emmy snub and also revealed that she never watched the popular sitcom before she joined the cast.
According to News.com.au, Bialik admitted that she was alright about not getting an Emmy nomination for this year’s Primetime Emmy Awards. Bialik played neuroscientist Dr. Amy Farrah Fowler on CBS’ long-running television series since 2010. She had been nominated four consecutive times for the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series from 2012 to 2015.
Bialik wrote on her blog Grok Nation that she continued to be optimistic despite the Emmy snub. She wrote, “I’m not going to lie and say that I’m not disappointed, because I think most humans would be disappointed… However, ever-optimistic — or at least trying to be — I realised three great things about not being nominated.”
She explained that it was nice to be part of the audience for a change and could watch the Emmys from the comforts of her own home without having to worry about dieting and her wardrobe choice.
Bialik said, “Don’t get me wrong; I am always incredibly honoured to attend awards shows even if I am not nominated, but since all of that getting fancied-up stuff isn’t really something that comes naturally to me, I can’t help but feel grateful about skipping it this year!”
Meanwhile, according to ET Canada, the American actress and real-life neuroscientist admitted that she never watched the show before being cast as Amy. She said, “I had never seen it. I had heard about it and thought it was a game show, ’cause someone told me I was mentioned on it, I think in the first season.”
Bialik began her entertainment career as a child actress in the 1980s. She then turned her back from the limelight when she decided to pursue a bachelor’s degree in neuroscience. After earning her degree, she went on to study for a doctorate before finally returning to acting.
She admitted that her strange resume may have helped her land the role of Amy on ‘The Big Bang Theory’. She said, “Under miscellany, it said, like: ‘Speaks Spanish, Hebrew, Yiddish. PhD in neuroscience.’ Because I felt like it should go on a résumé. Like, I worked seven years for that.” She recalled that co-creator Bill Prady couldn’t believe her resume at first.
‘The Big Bang Theory’ season 10 is expected to premiere on CBS on September 19, 2016.
