A lot of people have not been very happy with how season 3 of “Silicon Valley” has been going, largely due to how slow and dull the pacing has been. With the irritating CEO Jack Barker finally getting the boot though, will the series finally get back to its witty, face-paced roots?
Looking at a preview of episode 5, this might just be the case. “Silicon Valley” is set to give viewers more of that sharp humor that fans have come to expect and which has been unceremoniously dragged down by the thankfully former CEO.
Speaking of Baker, his departure was not expected by a lot of fans. Christian Daily even notes that many expected him to be the main antagonist of the show. This is not to say that he might not come back eventually or perhaps even next episode, but for now, he is out of the picture.
The problem now though is the empty seat for the chief executive officer of Pied Piper which needs to be filled. Richard is acting as the interim Chief Technology Officer at the moment; a position which he is visibly nervous about losing.
Richard was a candidate for the now empty CEO seat but both he and Erlich were rejected by Laurie Bream. As a result, it looks like episode 5’s plot will revolve largely around the CEO chair, who is going to fill it and why Richard has not been fired as CTO yet. The title of the episode will be “The Empty Chair” as well, which supports this assumption.
In other news, Big Head and Erlich will be having a rather one-sided discussion about their partnership. Will their brief team-up end next episode?
Episode 3 of “Silicon Valley” Season 3 will air on May 22 on HBO.
