Following a move rather similar to Apple’s iPhone 12 launch, Samsung showcased that the packaging for all Galaxy S21 series devices will look very different. The smartphones will be shipped in a much smaller box because it will no longer contain accessories used to be staple freebies in every new purchase.
Samsung Galaxy S21 accessories that people won’t get anymore
This is hardly a piece of shocking news, though. There early clues that hinted at the removal of some essential accessories from the Galaxy S21 boxes. But it was made official during the latest Galaxy Unpacked virtual event last Thursday. As many expected, all Galaxy S21 devices will be shipped without free chargers and earphones.
Samsung briefly explained that the removal of these accessories was done to contribute to lessening carbon footprint. Just like in Apple’s presentation last October, it was presumed that smartphone users already have one or several compatible accessories piled up in their drawers. The Galaxy S21 Ultra was also confirmed to support the S Pen. However, unlike the Note series, the stylus is sold separately.
What comes in the boxes of Galaxy S21 devices is a USB-C to USB-C cable, so this is one thing to consider before buying phone accessories. Another small but important item still included in the box is the SIM card tray eject pin.
Where to buy Samsung Galaxy S21 accessories
Anyone who will be needing the missing accessories can purchase them separately. And Samsung promised, “Our charges will remain available for anyone who wants one at a new, lower price.”
On Samsung’s official website for United States customers, a 25W USB-C travel charger is listed for $19.99, but the fast charging variant costs $34.99. It is worth noting that all Galaxy S21 models support wireless charging as well. And Samsung has wireless charging pads offered at $39.99 (single pad) to $59.99 (duo pad).
Obviously, the newly announced Galaxy Buds Pro, worth $199.99, is the earbuds Samsung is recommending to work best with the Galaxy S21. But note that other Samsung-made wireless and wired (Type-c) earphones are up for sale at lower prices on the company’s website as well. There is also plenty of other third-party wireless and wired headphones that Galaxy S21 users can get.
Those planning to buy the Galaxy S21 Ultra should also be ready to spend another $39.99 for its compatible S Pen. Pre-orders for the Galaxy S21, Galaxy S21+, and Galaxy S21 Ultra are now open with prices starting at $799.99, $999.99, and $1,199.99, respectively.
