The conclusion of “Quantico” saw one of the most likable characters in the show sacrificing himself in order to save people. By driving straight into the river with a nuke in the SUV, he was able to save everyone in the building, including his friends. Immediately following the finale, people started speculating that Simon did not die and that he would be back next season. Well, it turns out that those people are only half right, sort of.
Josh Safran, the show’s creator, spoke to TV Guide recently where he said that letting go of Simon was tough because he was such a great character. As such, he would like to have Simon make an appearance in Season 2 via flashbacks if Tate Ellington wants to.
"It is my hope that both Josh (Hopkins) and Tate immediately jump onto new projects because they're great actors and they should be working all the time,” Safran said. “But if they were available and wanted to come back for flashbacks, I would love to have them. Definitely Simon is very part of Alex's mental state and mindset.”
This might not be exactly what fans want, but at least they’ll get to see Simon a few more times if the actor agrees to come back. Alex, of course, is set to join the CIA after leaving the FBI.
Speculations are rife with regards to the sort of story developments that could happen once she is in the much shadier government agency which is known for preferring lies and manipulations over honest investigations. Fans are excited to see just how well Alex will do in such an environment.
An article by Hypable also revealed that “Quantico” will be returning for its season 2 premiere this fall with the same time slot. Although the exact date has not been released by ABC, at least fans can rest easy in knowing that they won’t have to wait that long for their favorite show to come back.
