Smartphone fans were looking forward to seeing the release of Pocophone F2 for the most part of 2019. However, they now have to face the hard truth that its launch has become much more questionable following the announcement of Poco X2 by Poco India.
It is important to note that the India-based Poco headquarters was the one that announced Poco X2. The company announced its independence from Xiaomi in terms of developing new smartphones and selling them shortly before Poco X2 was unveiled. It is then worth asking if Poco X2 is planned for an international release.
Poco X2 release date: Is it launching in more countries other than India?
After looking through reports and interviews of company executives online, it is quite difficult to find one where it is explicitly said the Poco X2 would no be released outside India. However, it is important to note that Poco India is almost the only branch of Poco that is doing all the work to promote the device.
Additionally, the smartphone was made available earlier this month without any announcement about selling it outside India. With all those factors considered, it appears that Poco X2 is planned to be an India-exclusive device.
One might argue that the Poco F1 also started that way, but it later had a successful global launch under the name Pocophone F2. But going back to Poco India going solo in the business, it is unclear how that affects the Poco Global brand and how that plays into selling Poco X2 in other regions. Some reports suggest it might be unnecessary to launch Poco X2 globally, claiming that the device is practically a version of the Redmi K30 being sold in India.

Poco X2 specs, price: Device won’t feature highly anticipated Snapdragon 8 series SoC
While Poco X2 is technically released after Poco F2, it cannot be considered a next-generation offering for one very important factor. The Poco X2 does not sport a Snapdragon 8 series SoC, which was what made Poco F2 a global success. The 2018 device was launched with a Snapdragon 845 chip for a price below $300.
However, that does not mean Poco X2 cannot live up to the hype. For a price starting at 15,999 rupees (around $224), the device comes with an ample 8nm Snapdragon 730G clocked at 2.2GHz and designed to support mobile gaming demands. It is available with a 6GB RAM that can be paired with either 64GB or 128GB storage while the top-tier model comes with 8GB RAM and 256GB internal memory.
