The smartphone brand Poco saw a huge success with the release of Pocophone F1 in 2018. It amazingly maintained a loyal fanbase despite going through more than a year without any news about its successor.
Poco broke its silence this year with the announcement of the upcoming Poco X2. But it does not appear like the Poco F1 successor that everyone has been hoping to see.
Poco X2 does not look like the Poco F2 that many fans were anticipating
It is important to establish one thing first. The Poco X2’s announced specs and features are very competitive, especially considering its price tag. However, it misses the mark when it comes to most fans’ expectations of the SoC processor.
One of the reasons why Poco F1 was so popular in many regions worldwide is that it was equipped with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 450. It was the top-tier chip at the time that used to be only available on expensive devices. So in the hopes of once again experiencing the power of a high-end Snapdragon SoC without spending as much, tech fans stuck around with Poco while anticipating the release of Poco F2.
Poco X2 specs, price, release date: Everything confirmed about the upcoming device
As mentioned, Poco X2 is still an overall impressive device. It is powered by the Snapdragon 730G chip clocked at 2.2 GHz with an octa-core CPU. Snapdragon 730G has been known as a gaming-friendly processor for cheaper smartphones. However, there are concerns if it is enough to handle demanding games such as “PUBG Mobile” at 60fps.
To match the processor’s gaming-related features, the Poco X2’s highlight feature is its 120Hz display and 20:9 aspect ratio. The device features a 4,500mAh battery that works with the popular 27W Fast Charging capability.
Poco X2 has a total of six camera lenses. On the rear, tech fans will find a quad-camera setup featuring a Sony IMX686 lens and a dual camera for selfies tucked in an in-display punch hole design. The standard RAM capacity is 6GB, which can be matched with either 64GB or 128GB storage. But there is also an option to purchase the device with an 8GB + 256GB configuration.
Poco X2’s retail release is set on Feb. 11; however, it is still unclear if the device will be sold outside India. The device will be sold through the India e-commerce site Flipkart starting at ₹15,999 or just around $225.
