“Outlander” fans, rejoice! Den of Geek reports that the Starz network has officially ordered Seasons 3 and 4 with showrunner Ronald D. Moore. The upcoming seasons will reportedly adapt author Diane Gabaldon’s “Voyager” and “Drums of Autumn” novels respectively.
With that into account, the show’s executive producer, Matthew B. Roberts, have been teasing photo stills presumably for Season 3 on his personal Instagram account. Some of the photos confirmed reports about the crew moving production from Scotland to South Africa, as the upcoming season will feature some sea voyage scenes.
As fans will definitely clamor for new “Outlander,” Carmi Zlotnik, President of Programming for Starz, has been asking for patience in a statement:
“While ‘Droughtlander’ will last just a little longer, we feel it is important to allow the production the time and number of episodes needed to tell the story of the “Voyager” book in its entirety. The scale of this book is immense, and we owe the fans the very best show. Returning in September will make that possible.”
Moviepilot recounts that the Season 2 finale had left hearts breaking, after Claire (Caitriona Balfe) and Jamie (Sam Heughan) got separated by 200 years after the former found her way back to her time via the stones. Although the “Voyager” book does guarantee a reunion for the two, Season 3 will definitely focus more on the two’s lives apart from each other. Moreover, Season 3 will also have fans finally see the adaptation of the print shop scene:
“The printshop scene is the exact moment Jamie meets Claire after being apart for 20 years. Needless to say, it's a deeply moving and emotional scene, but there's also some comedy and steamy moments to help break our hearts.”
But 20 years is 20 years apart, and judging from the photo stills, there wouldn’t be any sunshine for the two till the fated, emotional reunion.
