With the first and second installments of “Now You See Me” getting added to the library of streaming platforms, more movie fans might soon join the guessing game of when “Now You See Me 3” would be released. Actor Jesse Eisenberg recently revealed what he and his co-stars heard about the making of the third film.
‘Now You See Me 3’ cast
Eisenberg plays one of the main characters in the movie series named J. Daniel “Danny” Atlas. This means he would be one of the first people to know if there is any progress in the development of “Now You See Me 3.” Alas, the actor does not have good news to share with fans at this point – almost four years since the sequel premiered.
“I hear occasionally from my friends, the other actors in the movies, that ‘Oh, I’ve heard something,’” Eisenberg told ComingSoon.net. “And I go ‘Oh really? What’d you hear?’, but all we’ve got is ‘Oh, I hear they’re still working on it.’”
Lionsgate made previous pronouncements that the development of “Now You See Me 3” has started even before the second movie was released. There was also a report in late 2016 that the work on the third movie’s script has started.
That was the last update fans heard until earlier this year when We Got This Covered reported that Lionsgate has started calling the main cast members, purportedly including Eisenberg, to reprise their roles in “Now You See Me 3.” The publication expressed confidence in the information stating that its source has a reliable track record. Unfortunately, Eisenberg’s recent interview appears to debunk the rumor.
‘Now You See Me 3’ release date
There have been hopes that “Now You See Me 3” would be released, or at least enter production, this year. But the conflicting report and statement from a cast member seem to discourage fans from hoping for a premiere date set in 2020 or even in 2021.
On the bright side, no one from the studio and the cast has declared that the movie project has been scrapped. This leaves a small chance that “Now You See Me 3” would still see the light of day. But without any progress in its development at this point, it seems impossible to see it in theaters in the next few years.
