Nintendo’s unlikely hero to garner US consumer interest in its new Switch console? The 16-time WWE world champion and occasional actor John Cena.
Reports are saying that Cena is tapped to be on-hand at the first Switch pop-up event, which will happen on February 23 at Blue Cloud Movie Ranch, California. According to the gaming industry giant, Cena’s athleticism and acting ability makes him the perfect choice to promote the versatile Switch console, IGN said.
“The upcoming launch of the unique Nintendo Switch console calls for a unique series of celebrations,” says Bowser. “These unexpected locations perfectly highlight the features of the new system, as well as provide one-of-a-kind surprise-and-delight moments that Nintendo does best,” Nintendo of America senior vice president Doug Bowser said via NintendoLife.
Polygon said that gamers and wrestling enthusiasts could attend the event, if they are Cena, a YouTube influencer, or if they have an exclusive invite from Nintendo. Nintendo will introduce “highly visual, interactive living room-inspired spaces” to help set the mood for the debut of the Switch console. However, the public can attend the other Switch console pop-up events, which will be held at Snowmass ski resort in Aspen, Colorado on February 27, and Madison Square Park, New York on March 3rd.
Fans who missed both public events will also have the chance to take part at PAX East on March 10-12 and South by Southwest on March 16-18. However, Gamespot said the shows will take place well after the console’s release date.
