Are you ready for a re-imagination of the tale of King Arthur? You should be because Netflix just released the trailer of Cursed and it will be something very different from what we know of the legendary tale. The trailer also revealed that the Cursed will be airing this July 17.
The series is based on the graphic novel, Cursed, written by Thomas Wheeler and illustrated by Frank Miller. Perhaps the series is in safe hands as both are involved as executive producers. Wheeler, in addition, is also the showrunner.
The series tells the tale of the legendary King Arthur but with a big twist because instead of King Arthur wielding the sword Excalibur, the role goes to the Lady of the Lake.
Katherine Langford takes on the rule of Nimue who eventually becomes the Lady of the Lake. Devon Terrell plays Arthur, who serves as King Uther's mercenary. Uther is played by Sebastian Armesto. Merlin's role will be played by Gustaf Skarsgard.
Town & Country reported that Wheeler said that it was a challenge to bring to life the characters from the book to the screen.
Wheeler explained that in choosing the cast, they made sure the actors were capable of giving the legendary characters emotion and humanity amidst the magic elements that is very much part of the story.
Basing on the trailer, the series is aiming for the young adult and teen market which is not surprising as the iteration of the tale of King Arthur has long been inappropriate for the children.
It seems that the series will play up the epic and grandiose elements in this re-imagination, according to Screenrant, as evidenced by the trailer and the several images that Netflix has also released.
