“Narcos Mexico” season 2 is finally coming back after being on hiatus for more than a year. Netflix announced its renewal at the end of 2018, and it immediately went into production, but from then, it took a while before the second installment is ready for release.

“Narcos Mexico” season 2 is expected to pick up from the time after DEA agent Kiki Camarena was killed by goons on the order of the drug lord Felix Gallardo. He was abducted and tortured until he died then thrown at a plantation where the authorities found him.

What will happen in the second season?

“Narcos Mexico” season 2 will show the rise of the Guadalajara drug cartel in Mexico. This takes place in the 80s when illegal drug dealing really prospered and made the drug lords rich and powerful. But while there is a big boom in this illegal business, it was also the time when the DEA started to seriously go after the dealers and its leader, Felix Gallardo.

Camarena may be dead, but his fight to end the illegal drug business lives on when his colleagues and the entire DEA vowed to continue what he started. Also, a new agent who is also very committed to bringing down the narcos has come to replace Camarena, and with his arrival, they declared war against the drug cartels.

Cast lineup

Diego Luna will be returning as the leader of the Guadalajara cartel, whose full name is Miguel Ángel Félix Gallardo in “Narcos Mexico” season 2. Scoot McNairy will play Walt Breslin, the DEA agent who will take over and resume Kiki Camarena’s fight against the drug lords.

McNairy was revealed to be the mystery narrator in the finale of the first season. He will arrive in Guadalajara to handle “Operation Leyenda” as its officer in charge. It is the new task force that was formed to go after people responsible for Camarena's death. Furthermore, Tenoch Huerta (Rafael Cara Quintero), Teresa Ruiz (Isabella Bautista), and Alejandro Edda (Joaquin “El Chapo” Guzman) will all join the cast lineup of “Narcos Mexico” season 3, as per the Radio Times.
