Cleveland Cavalier is set to launch its own non-fungible token collectibles and this move made the NBA team the latest in the league to jump into the world of NFTs. The team will also be introducing its virtual lockers designed for fans to store their Cavaliers NFT collectibles.

The Cleveland Cavaliers teamed up with Sweet, a New York-based NFT platform and marketplace, for this new project. Starting this week, fans can have the chance to claim free virtual lockers that will serve as a place where fans can keep and put their digital Cavaliers collectibles on display.

According to Business Insider, the locker will be unlocked on Sunday, Feb. 6 and this is before the Cavs faces Indiana Pacers for a game match on Saturday, Feb. 12. For fans who are planning to watch the game in person, some of them can receive the very first Cavaliers NFT. These will be given in the form of a digital t-shirt that they can display in the virtual locker.

The game attendees for the home games will be eligible to get the game-issued NFTs. The collectibles are available for fans who will be at the Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse during the Cav vs. Pacers match.

The branded t-shirt features the “Let ‘Em Know” print and fans can also choose to buy other NFTs that will be released on that day. Fans can put all of their Cleveland Cavaliers NFTs inside the “My Cavs Locker.”

The other NFT collectibles that will be dropped throughout the 2021-2022 NBA game season will include sneakers, varsity jackets, branded tees that may also have a version in the real world, a mini fridge, and more. Fans who can personally attend the games for the rest of the season may buy the available NFTs or even get them for free if there are promos.

“Ultimately, this will be an ongoing promotion, not just for the remainder of this season but for upcoming seasons, meaning fans can continue to build out, curate, and showcase their ‘My Cavs Locker’ into the future,” Cleveland Cavaliers’ senior vice president and chief information officer, Mike Conley, said in a press release. “This offers our supporters a fantastic and fun way to own a digital shrine, showcasing their love for the team.
