The Microsoft Surface Neo is probably one of the most interesting gadgets that the company will introduce this year. It’s basically a dual-screen laptop that’s designed for functionality and versatility.
Microsoft Surface Neo specs and features
When it was introduced, the Microsoft Surface Neo was touted as the culmination of the company’s vision to produce an extremely versatile device. It was touted as the next category of devices that could deliver the “ultimate in mobile productivity.”
Indeed, it looks like it just might live up to all the hype. The Microsoft Surface Neo is essentially an assembly of two 9-inch tablets that are hinged together. The end result is that it feels like a book that users could just flip open.
However, its 360-degree hinge feature allows its owners a few options on how they want to position the device. It can be flipped back or just used in tent mode.
The new Lakefield processor will power the device, a hybrid chip that already incorporates 11th generation Intel graphics solution, according to Tech Radar. The CPU is also very compact and is said to be half the usual size of a regular PCB.
The device will be running on Windows 10X, Microsoft’s new operating system specifically designed for dual-screened gadgets. It allows the device to perform tricks unseen in single-screen devices. For instance, with the email opened in one screen, clicking on a link within the message would open the site on the other screen.
New keyboard design
While virtual keyboards are neat, those whose work involves extensively using the keyboard will probably prefer mechanical ones where they can feel the keys being depressed as they type. The Microsoft Surface Pro offers this experience as it will still have a mechanical keyboard that can be folded out of sight when not in use, according to Windows Latest.
“The hinge allows almost 360° of rotation, which enables the mechanical keyboard to be folded onto touch screen for use or behind touch screen for stowage,” the publication wrote. It also added that the keys might even be “substantially transparent or substantially translucent”
Microsoft Surface Neo release date
Tech enthusiasts might have to wait a bit longer to get their hands on the upcoming dual-screen device. There is no announcement for a specific Microsoft Surface Neo release date at the moment but the company said that it will be rolling out in the holiday season of 2020, barring any unforeseen delays.
