Fans are still kept in the dark when it comes to the health recovery of former Formula One racing champion Michael Schumacher. But there have been reports that he is continuing his recovery while his family goes on with their lives. In fact, his son, Mick, recently achieved a major milestone in his own professional racing career.
It was as if Mick re-enacted one of his father’s historical wins when the younger Schumacher grabbed his maiden win at the Spa-Francorchamps in late July. Mick emerged victorious after 45 attempts in the F3 race. Back in 1992, Michael Schumacher won his first-ever F1 win at the same Belgian Grand Prix venue.
"As it seems, Spa is a good venue for the Schumacher family," Mick said. "When I saw the rain this morning, I was already happy: I very much like rain and mixed conditions. In the overtaking maneuver, I was able to attack him from the slipstream. I already made a similar move in race one and therefore I knew that it would work out.”
Aside from Michael Schumacher’s family and fans, Formula One Group CEO Chase Carey also seemed to be delighted with the younger Schumacher’s success. Carey further commented that Michael remains an icon for the sports fans even after his accident and “it would be a great story” to see his 19-year-old son eventually join F1.
Earlier this month, Michael Schumacher’s name was once again in many news headlines. While F1 driver Lewis Hamilton secured his fifth overall Italian Grand Prix win, his success is linked to Schumacher’s own career story. For years, Schumacher was hailed as the driver with the most wins in the Italian GP, and that record was finally matched with Hamilton’s win last week.
As the F1 racing drivers and fans continue to celebrate Michael Schumacher’s legacy from his 21-year professional career, reports have it that he continues to recuperate from the tragic skiing accident he had in 2013. Paris Match magazine gathered information from relatives (who remained anonymous in the report) that Schumacher is slowly making progress. According to the tipsters, Schumacher goes through regular therapy sessions, including exercises in the pool and driving around their Swiss home in a compact vehicle.
