Michael Schumacher's family has long been firm in maintaining the privacy of the Formula One legend’s recovery. However, there is a new report that revealed details about his therapy sessions at home.
The said report came from a French magazine called Paris Match. According to the publication (via news.com.au), up to 15 specialists are alternately visiting the Schumacher’s family home in Switzerland near Lake Geneva to check up on the F1 icon. Physiotherapists also reportedly visit Schumacher for daily therapy sessions.
The report has it that Schumacher is made to listen to audio that simulates the sound of a speeding F1 race car. It was further claimed that Schumacher’s therapy sessions also include letting him drive the compact vehicle Volkswagen Golf around their property.
It is unlikely that they want Michael Schumacher to get to start driving again. But it is being implied that the specialists want to help the F1 legend remember the days when he was still in the prime of his career.
Paris Match allegedly received these reports from two of Schumacher’s relatives who have been visiting him. One of them reportedly claimed that the injured race car driver has been able to "sketch a few gestures in his aquatic pool.”
Meanwhile, the insiders also implied that the family has been bringing Michael Schumacher outdoors for nature sightseeing. This activity reportedly makes the retired racer overwhelmed with emotions. “When you put him in his wheelchair facing the magnificent panorama of the mountains overlooking the lake, Michael sometimes cries,” one of the Schumacher relatives told Paris Match.
As mentioned, Schumacher’s immediate family has repeatedly made it clear that they prefer to help the F1 legend recover in private. So it is surprising that a couple of relatives reached out to a publication to release the alleged medical updates.
It can be recalled that Michael Schumacher’s family won a lawsuit against the German magazine Bunte in 2017. The family sued the publication for running a 2015 story that claimed Schumacher was able to walk again at the time, which the family vehemently denied. Per the judge’s ruling, Bunte was ordered to pay the Schumachers at least 45,000 pounds in damages.
