Meghan Markle, Prince Harry bombshell exit: How the Sussexes hurt and betrayed the royal family

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle shocked the world when they made an announcement that they will be stepping back from their royal duties and withdraw as senior members of the Royal Family. The bombshell that was labeled as the “Megxit” drew various reactions and opinions from people around the world, and the duchess has been blamed for the most part.

The Sussexes betrayed the royals

The Daily Mail reported that a source from the royal household revealed that the royal family was “deeply disappointed.” They were shocked, outraged, and felt betrayed by Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s sudden move as they did not even consult Her Majesty or anyone before releasing their statement for the Megxit.

It was said that members of the family had given all that they want and even bent over backward to grant their wishes even it was against some protocols, and yet, this was what they got in return from the Sussexes. But then again, despite the hurt that they caused, it was said that the Queen and the other senior royals are still willing to help Harry and Meghan.

The Queen’s heartache

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex announced that they would carve out a progressive new role within this institution and become financially independent while continuing to support the Queen fully. But royal observers slammed the couple as they see this as an unfair way to treat Her Majesty, who was said to have been hurt.

“The Queen has been rather hurt by some of Harry’s actions particularly around the time of the wedding,” a source told Vanity Fair. “She feels she has done everything to smooth the path for them but this could well be the last straw.”

Queen Elizabeth felt this way because Prince Harry and Meghan did not inform her that they will be announcing their departure and quitting from their royal roles. Moreover, they decided to live in Canada, but she only learned about these decisions through the media.

Meanwhile, even if they felt betrayed, the Queen, Prince Charles and Prince William agreed to just let Prince Harry and his family go as they “understand their desire to take a different approach.” Although they will live in North America, they will still be keeping the Frogmore Cottage in Windsor, and it was reported that they would pay back the cost of renovations when they moved there last year.
