Matthew Perry had relied on his Friends costars following his breakup with talent manager Molly Hurwitz last month.
A source told OK! on its June 8, 2020 issue that it is a good thing that he has reconnected with his Friends costars because it could have been worse for the actor who was feeling despondent with the breakup.
According to the source, Matthew knew that emotionally, he could not handle the situation on his own.
Matthew had worried his inner circle when he was seen walking outside looking very miserable following the end of his two-year relationship with Hurwitz.
The source told OK! that his friends were terrified that Matthew would return to his dangerous old habits of relying on pills and booze to escape from the pain.
It did not help that the 50-year-old actor had to visit the hospital after suffering pain and symptoms of gastrointestinal perforation that he got sick with in 2018.
His friends claimed that his old gastrointestinal problem would flare up every now and then. They do not believe that he has fully recovered from the damage caused by his partying hard for years.
The source also told OK! that Matthew cannot blame his friends for panicking over him as this is not the first time that he has worried them.
In 1997, he had to undergo a rehab for Vicodin addiction not only once but thrice. Then in 2000, he was confined in the hospital for pancreatitis. The actor admitted that it was a result of bad diet paired with hard drinking.
In the past, Matthew's friends couldn't reached out to him as he had shunned them making it difficult for them to monitor him.
Aside from opening up to his friends and proactively improving his diet, Matthew is also now open to dating someone as he is back on Raya, the high profile dating app.
