Bethesda released a brief “The Elder Scrolls 6” trailer during its E3 2018 press conference which finally confirmed its existence. However, the developer has been silent about the title and there was no update made during last year’s E3 event.
A leak is making its rounds recently that got fans of the franchise very excited. The leak not only offered a possible “Elder Scrolls 6” release year, but it also talked about the game’s settings and some other details.
According to Game Rant, the leak came from Reddit user ToddIsMyMom in a lengthy post about “Starfield” and “The Elder Scrolls 6.” In his post, the Redditor said that the “ES 6” will take place in High Rock, Hammerfell and Yokuda, which was the landmass been featured in the trailer.
The Redditor also confirmed a previous leak that said “The Elder Scrolls 6” will be subtitled “Redfall.” In addition, the leaker claimed that the main quest of the upcoming title will be the Direnni Tower.
The leaker also claimed that “The Elder Scrolls 6” release date would be sometime in 2025. However, noted this to be a suspicious claim. “If the game was that far off, it seems unlikely that this leaker would have so many details about it this early in development,” the gaming-focused site wrote. While the leak revealed exciting details, fans better take them with a grain of salt.
In fact, Game Rant said in a later article that the supposed leak is likely to be a fake. One red flag that stood out is its claim that the “ES 6” release date will happen in 2025, which is seven years after its initial announcement in 2018. “Not even Skyrim waited that long after its initial announcement, coming out just over a year after the first teaser,” the site wrote.
In addition, the leak contained too many details to be believable. The site noted “the deluge of highly specific game information from the leak's earlier bullet points” before concluding that “it seems unlikely that these details would not be known ahead of time.”
What is known for certain at this point is that the game is currently in development. Earlier, Bethesda Game Studios posted job listings for programmer spawning speculations that the openings might be for “The Elder Scrolls 6.”
“Bethesda Game Studios is looking for talented programmers to join our team that is pushing the bleeding-edge of RPG development for the PC and consoles,” the job listing reads. “Collaborate on the implementation of new gameplay features: player and characters’ behaviors, combat and powers mechanics, user interface, etc.”
No official “The Elder Scrolls 6” release date has been announced. But many believe that it would come after the release of “Starfield,” which is slated for launch in 2021.
