Lay's Potato Chips just released an unexpected product for this holiday season. It is not a snack but an alcoholic beverage!
Lay's Potato Chips launched its new limited-edition vodka that bears its name. The product has been released this week and it is simply called the Lay's Potato Vodka.
The boost is only being sold online through Eastside Distilling's website and it has already caught the attention of the consumers. Frito-Lay's approached the said beverage company headquartered in Portland, Oregon for a partnership to create this unique product.
As per Forbes, the new Lay's Potato Chip Vodka is partly made from Frito-Lay's well-known proprietary potatoes. These are the same potatoes that are being used to make the Lay's Potato Chips. The potatoes were blended with vodka distilled at Eastside Distilling and an interesting product was created.
"At Lay's, we're always looking for new and innovative ways to bring joy and fun to our fans," the publication quoted Frito-Lay North America's senior director of marketing, Melissa Miranda, as saying in a statement. "This launch comes just in time for the holidays so our fans who are 21 years old and over can enjoy Lay's in an exciting, brand-new way at their get-togethers or can gift Lay's Vodka to the Lay's fan in their lives. And you never know what future plans we have up our sleeves! We love to keep our fans guessing as to what is coming next."
At any rate, Lay's Potato Vodka is just one of the collaborations between a snack brand and beverage company. This strategy has always worked and in fact, sales from these teams up always end up with sold-out releases.
Vodka is a popular drink and Lay's is also a famous brand so when they are put together, people will immediately recognize the brand. What's more, the curiosity of the consumers about the new product will always push the sales high up.
With the release of Lay's Potato Chip Vodka, it was predicted that more unique flavors are coming up next. Most of these are also likely to be unusual pairings and flavors that will be created through brand collaborations as this strategy is always successful.
Meanwhile, Yahoo Finance reported that the Lay's Potato Vodka will be sold in 750 ml. Bottle for $40. However, as of Dec. 17, the product posted on the Eastside Distilling website is already sold out.
