Guerilla Games released another sizable update to "Horizon Forbidden West" this week that mainly addresses issues and delivers improvements to several quests. The developer also detailed balance changes applied to weapons and enemies.
Before reading through the changes made in "Horizon Forbidden West" version 1.08, Guerilla warns that details in the patch notes contain spoilers. So for new players, it may be best to install the update and proceed to play the game to avoid potential spoilers.
"The Dying Lands" main quest received a couple of updates in "Horizon Forbidden West" version 1.08. Guerilla said Varl and Zo should no longer become idle outside of Plainsong. The developer also addressed an issue where Aloy's companions stopped leading the way after players restart the game from certain saves.
Guerilla also fixed other issues observed when players are coming back to the game from certain saves, including the sudden disabling of fast travel in "The Broken Sky" and Aloy spawning in the Base when playing the "All That Remains" main quest. Some players may have heard Aloy's breathing sounds continue to play in the background during a cinematic cutscene in the "Thebes" main quest, which has been fixed in this update as well.
The "Horizon Forbidden West" update also fixed some side quest issues that prevented progression for some players. For example, an issue prevented players from interacting with Kavvoh and Arokkeh during the "Blood For Blood" side quest. But this has been addressed in the latest patch.
Guerilla noted that it has also applied "multiple crash fixes" in patch 1.08. NPC movements and animations were also improved. The developer also fixed an issue that caused the Machine Strike UI to flicker at the end of a game.
The patch notes have an "Other" section, where Guerilla stated the latest "Horizon Forbidden West" update includes "several balancing changes to weapons and enemies." When asked for the specific changes included, Guerilla said Aloy will now be invulnerable during knockdowns once she hits the ground and until she gets back up. "This is to prevent players from receiving unfair damage while they can't do any action to avoid it," Guerilla added.
