People naturally have high hopes entering a new decade, and this frame of mind might extend to tech companies expected to launch new products this year. GoPro fans are already anticipating the company to launch its next flagship action camera that would be most likely named HERO9 Black.
Being in the new decade could also play into how GoPro would advertise its next set of action cameras. Fans might later see this in the form of drastic design and specs upgrades on HERO9 Black.
HERO9 Black wishlist: Will GoPro opt for a larger touchscreen display?
Regardless if it is a new decade or not, what fans can certainly count on is the annual improvements in the camera functions and features of GoPro cameras. But since this is a somewhat special year, GoPro might also take advantage of it by introducing updates on other aspects of the HERO9 Black, such as its screen. An interesting proposition comes from Camera Jabber where the idea of having a larger touchscreen display is floated.
GoPro does not have to make the HERO9 Black a bigger device to achieve this. Like what tech fans saw on newer smartphone models, GoPro could push the edges of the touchscreen further to the edges of the camera’s body.
When smartphones with so-called “bezel-less” display became such a hit, this tech trend trickled down to other markets. Consumers have now seen laptops, tablets, and wearable devices sport bigger displays with thinner bezels, so this simple tweak certainly makes a hardware product more appealing. It is then not far-fetched to hope that GoPro would do the same for HERO9 Black.
HERO9 Black release date: When to expect the next action camera from GoPro
While a bigger touchscreen is not a shabby idea for HERO9 Black, fans will have to wait several months to see if GoPro would make this a reality. The company historically releases HERO flagship cameras in the fall season every year, and that could be the same release date window GoPro has for HERO9 Black.
HERO8 Black and HERO Max were the first cameras to be released in the month of October since 2014. From that year, GoPro opted for an earlier timeline and launched new cameras in September through 2018. It then appears that an October launch this year is more plausible for the HERO9 Black.
