"Game of Thrones" season 7's newest in-production video was released recently at the SDCC together with a season 6 blooper reel. Filming is scheduled to begin some time later this year. Meanwhile, Iain Glen was spotted heading to the filming location in Belfast fueling speculations of his character Jorah Mormont's return to the series.
According to Comingsoon.net, a new video released during the San Diego Comic-Con teased the beginning of production for the incoming season of HBO's critically-acclaimed fantasy series based on George R. R. Martin's series of novels. The video showed crew members preparing props and costumes on the filming set.
It was released together with a Season 6 blooper reel. "GoT" Season 7 is slated to premiere on HBO some time in summer 2017. It will be based in Northern Ireland, with additional scenes shot in Spain and Iceland.
The season’s directors will include Mark Mylod, Matt Shakman, Jeremy Podeswa, and Alan Taylor. It will be produced by Chris Newman, Greg Spence and Lisa McAtackney with David Benioff, D.B. Weiss, Bernadette Caulfield, Carolyn Strauss and Frank Doelger executive producing. Co-executive producers include Guymon Casady, Vince Gerardis, Bryan Cogman and George R.R. Martin.
It was previously reported that "Game of Thrones" season 7 will contain only seven episodes instead of the usual 10 episodes. Much like its predecessor, season 7 will also draw its storyline from the final two books in the 'A Song of Ice and Fire' series but may stray from original content as the books are yet to be released. The incoming season will also begin filming later this year due to weather constrictions.
According to the Independent, president of HBO programming Casey Bloys said in an earlier statement, "Now that winter has arrived on Game of Thrones, executive producers David Benioff and D B Weiss felt that the storylines of the next season would be better served by starting production a little later than usual, when the weather is changing... Instead of the show's traditional spring debut, we're moving the debut to summer to accommodate the shooting schedule."
Benioff also explained during an appearance at the SDCC 2016, “Winter is here. We’re shooting in places where there are trees. We have to wait until the leaves fall off.”
Meanwhile, some cast members were seen heading back to the series' filming location in Belfast following Liam Cunningham's (Davos Seaworth) announcement that they begin filming "in five week's time".
According to Winter Is Coming, a fan Tweeted that she spotted Gwendoline Christie and Iain Glen on a flight to Belfast. She noted that Glen was reading a script on board and this fueled speculations that his character may be returning to season 7 after all.
Christie, who plays Brienne of Tarth, was last seen sailing away from Riverrun presumably to join Jon Snow and Sansa back in Winterfell. Meanwhile, Glen's Jorah Mormont was commanded by Daenerys to find a cure for his greyscale before they could reunite once more. It seems that he may find just that and make a grand reappearance in the series.
'Game of Thrones' season 7 is a multi-award winning television series created by D. B. Weiss and David Benoiff. It is an adaptation of George R. R. Martin's 'A Song of Ice and Fire' series of novels.
