In the past couple of weeks, rumors about “GTA 6” has been sprouting left and right, with most claiming that the next entry might years away from being released. One rumor, in particular, purported that Rockstar Games isn’t prioritizing the next entry for the franchise as its resources are being focused on the development of “Bully 2.”
Supposed image leaks of the sequel made its round on the web, one showing a map design of the game, while the other depicted a gated area with a character standing before it. Following the leak, players who have been hoping that “GTA 6” is in the pipeline of Rockstar’s lineup were worried that the title might be further delayed.
The sixth installment is already the longest entry for the franchise as “GTA 5” is turning six years old next week. But a new revelation last week revealed that the “Bully 2” rumor was a fake all along reviving yet again the “GTA 6” narrative.
GTA 6 and the Bully 2 narrative
Felipe Borges, the source of the “Bully 2” speculation, recently admitted that it was merely a concept he had been working on. He didn’t expect that it would blow up the way it did as multiple publications covered the supposed leak extensively. Thus, the chances of “GTA 6” being the main priority of Rockstar is back on the forefront again.
Market analyst Alex Giamo previously said that the earliest we can hope to see “GTA 6” is on 2021. The sentiment echoes the prediction of game analyst Michael Pachter who previously said that the most realistic date for the sixth installment announcement is 2020 with 2021 the year that the title could hit the shelves. Prechter's assumptions are rooted in the long release of “Red Dead Redemption 2,” which took eight years to be completed.
GTA 6 could come out after the next-gen console hits the market
And speaking of which, the PC version of “RDR2” is apparently coming out soon, TechRadar reported. “Evidence” of this claim is also making its round on the web, with some of them clearly carrying weight. The good news is that it’s unlikely that this project will interfere with the development of “GTA 6” since the rumors are claiming the port is nearing its completion.
In any case, the gaming community will likely hear more news about the sixth entry next year what with the PS5 and Scarlett coming out in the latter parts of 2020. There’s no denying that Rockstar is looking to leverage the powerful hardware of both devices to ensure that “GTA 6” is in line with the current gaming standard.
