‘Fast 8’ actor Dwayne Johnson said he welcomed conflict since it was good following drama that ensued with cast mates on the filming set. Meanwhile, Vin Diesel promised to spill “everything” in a cryptic video message.
According to the Independent, Johnson posted a lengthy message on his Instagram account explaining that conflict had its own advantages after rumors emerged that it was Diesel he called a candy a** in his last controversial post.
Parts of his earlier post from August 8 read, “This is my final week of shooting #FastAndFurious8. There's no other franchise that gets my blood boiling more than this one… My female co-stars are always amazing and I love 'em. My male co-stars however are a different story. Some conduct themselves as stand up men and true professionals, while others don't. The ones that don't are too chicken shit to do anything about it anyway. Candy asses. When you watch this movie next April and it seems like I'm not acting in some of these scenes and my blood is legit boiling - you're right.”
Johnson didn’t call out anyone specific on his Instagram rant so fans could only speculate who he was referring to. Since the film assembled a massive male cast, people narrowed it down to his main cast mates Tyrese Gibson, Ludacris, Kurt Russell, Jason Statham, Scott Eastwood and/or Lucas Black, and Vin Diesel.
It was reported that Diesel is known for his tardiness during production and this may have finally triggered a public rant from Johnson. According to TMZ, Diesel stormed off the set on his final day of filming after gathering everyone for a speech that included the phrase “Daddy’s Gone.” Their sources revealed that Diesel earlier confronted Johnson over his comments on social media while the two spoke privately in Johnson’s trailer but it didn’t seem like there was any resolution to the conflict.
However, the Johnson tried clearing up the air by posting a more level-headed message on Instagram days later. According to ET, Johnson wrote, “You guys reading this know how much I believe in the idea of TEAM EFFORT. That means respecting every person, their time and their value when they step on to my set or partner with our production company. And like with any team - that's a family - there's gonna be conflict. Family is gonna have differences of opinion and fundamental core beliefs.”
He continued, “To me, conflict can be a good thing, when its followed by great resolution. I was raised on healthy conflict and welcome it. And like any family, we get better from it. At the end of the day me and #F8 co-stars all agree on the most important thing: Delivering an incredible movie to the world.”
Meanwhile, Diesel took to his own Instagram account to post a cryptic video message promising that he would spill everything. He said, "So give me a second and I will tell you everything. Everything."
‘Fast 8’ is an upcoming action film directed by F. Gary Gray and written by Chris Morgan. It is produced under One Race Films and Original Film and distributed by Universal Pictures. It is intended as the eight installment in the highly popular and commercially successful action series ‘Fast and the Furious’, which earned $3.897 billion collectively worldwide.
