‘Elementary’ season 5’s episode 9, entitled "It Serves You Right to Suffer," is set to follow Shinwell as he gets framed for murder. Holmes and Watson must race to find the real killer and prove Shinwell’s innocence before he is thrown back in jail.
The synopsis for episode 9 posted on TV Guide reads, “Shinwell (Nelsan Ellis) is framed for a gang killing, and Holmes (Jonny Lee Miller) and Watson (Lucy Liu) have just three days to find the real murderer before he is arrested and sent back to jail.”
The incoming episode was directed by series regular Aidan Quinn, who plays Captain Tommy Gregson of the New York Police Department’s 11th precinct. This will serve as his directorial debut on the small screen.
Shinwell last appeared in the season’s episode 7, entitled "Bang Bang Shoot Chute," where Watson discovered that he had violated his parole when he met with his old gang member Tall Boy (Ruffin Prentiss), according to Yahoo! Sports. When Watson told him that there were repercussions of violating his parole, he merely dismissed her saying that he doesn’t need any more help from her.
However, it seems that the former convict will find himself accused of murder and may end up behind bars once more should Holmes and Watson fail to prove his innocence by finding the real perpetrator behind the crime. Holmes suspected that Shinwell as always up to no good but will do his best to help him out for Watson’s sake.
It will be interesting how Shinwell will be forced to pull down his pride and accept help from Holmes and Watson in solving the case.
‘Elementary’ season 5’s episode 9, entitled "It Serves You Right to Suffer," is scheduled to air on CBS on December 11, 2016. It was directed by Aidan Quinn and written by Kelly Wheeler. It will be followed by episode 10, entitled "Pick Your Poison," scheduled to air on December 18.
