Donald Trump shockingly targeted Greta Thunberg at this week’s rally in Colorado.
Weeks ago, the POTUS expressed how upset he was after Thunberg was named as the “Person of the Year” by TIME magazine. For some reason, Melania Trump’s husband felt that he was the rightful recipient of the recognition.
At that time, Trump tweeted his criticisms of Thunberg, and the 17-year-old fired back. Their feud has died a natural death until Trump revived it at the rally. The president made everyone know that he hasn’t moved on from TIME magazine’s snub.
“This year I got beaten out by Greta… You know Greta?” Trump asked his supporters who immediately booed when they heard the teenager’s name.
The POTUS then said that it’s OK if other people are recognized by the magazine but it would be best if he is their “Person of the Year” every time.
“And now they call it ‘Person of the Year,’ not ‘Man of the Year.’ And I know the women out there are saying it’s not nice but a lot of women out there do not like it. We can have a ‘Woman of the Year’… I like that,” he said.
But even though Trump’s supporters cheered him on during the rally, he wasn’t able to escape the criticisms made by non-supporters.
“What kind of man attacks a 16-year-old girl? Oh yeah, the same kind who rapes 13-year-old girl minutes after she’s raped by his best friend. And then murders his friend (the other rapist) when that guy gets caught. Yeah, that’s the type,” Twitter user @taketrumpdown wrote.
“Booing a teenage girl. A person in his position attempting to bully a young girl. I hate him beyond words. Can’t wait until he’s in prison,” Twitter user @SeventhChild47 said.
“Greta: ‘Save the planet.’ Trump: ‘boo, boo, boo,’” Twitter user @realstdunstan said.
“The 73-year-old man is jealous of a teenager!” Twitter user @DaylieKartunes said.
