Donald Trump is stepping down as the president of the United States in January. This is sure already, as the electoral college also confirmed his win just yesterday.
Donald Trump led the country for only four years, but in that short time, he has done a lot of things but gained so many enemies as well. Many citizens may also hate him for his policies and decisions that they think hurt America, so in the end, as he steps down from his post and leaves the White House, many are wondering how will the 45th president of the U.S. be remembered?
The survey for Trump’s legacy in US history
How will the POTUS be remembered in American history after serving the country for four years? To get an answer to this question, Fox News set up a poll and surprisingly revealed that almost 50% of Americans think that he will be written in history as one of the country’s greatest presidents.
It was said that based on the survey, 48% rated Donald Trump as average and one of the greatest leaders that the country ever had. In contrast, 50% said that the president is below average and one of the worst presidents in America.
The percentage suggests that many citizens think that Donald Trump is not the greatest, but he is not the worst either. Thus, it is a 50-50 vote, which is not bad at all. The numbers state that 1 or more in every 5 citizens think that Trump will be remembered well and will be put in history in a good light despite controversies, including his administration’s handling of the coronavirus pandemic.
Perhaps, what made people think that Donald Trump is great is the fact that he boosted the country’s economy. The economic aspect under his leadership was going so well until COVID-19 hits.
Who participated in the survey?
As per CNN, people who participated in the survey consist of citizens from various groups. Here is the summary: 29% of white men think Donald Trump will be written in history as one of the country's best leaders. 49% of them were people who voted for Trump in the recent election and confirmed to side with the Republicans, and lastly, 36% of them are white evangelicals.
Overall, I may still think that Donald Trump did a good job while serving the country. He may have made some bad decisions, but many citizens still believe he led America well.
