McDonald's Malaysia forced to ration fries due to 'fry-tening' supply crunch

In a social media post this week, McDonald's Malaysia revealed that it is “facing a fry-tening supply crunch".

Malaysia has been added to a list of countries whose McDonald's stores were forced to ration French fries due to supply chain problems

Large French fries portions and a type of large meal set, have been taken off menus until further notice at McDonald's Malaysia outlets.

In a social media post this week, McDonald's Malaysia revealed that it is “facing a fry-tening supply crunch".

McDonald's confirmed that its Malaysian branches are "currently experiencing supply challenges," that placed large servings of fries out of the menu since Monday.

The fast-food chain said that large portions would be offered as soon as possible in Malaysia, where hundreds of McDonald's outlets are located, while vowing to "closely monitor" supplies.

McDonald's Japan has twice limited French fry orders to small sizes since December due to Canadian floods and the pandemic that squeezed potato imports, while McDonald's Taiwan said earlier this month that "unstable" shipping supplies from the US caused some of its stores to run out of hash browns.
