What an intense-filled episode yet again for all the fans and viewers of the hit TV series 'CSI: Cyber'. This week's episode was another episode that showed the abilities and skills of Avery and her team as they search for a hacker who has sensitive and cnfidential files from the government. Here is a recap of last Sunday's episode titled "Legacy".
As per the CBS synopsis, “The fate of the U.S. government is at stake as Avery and the Cyber team search for the hacker responsible for the largest breach of highly classified data in history after millions of federal employee files are stolen. Also, Avery and her ex-husband have a heart-to-heart and D. B. considers a future with Greer, on the second season finale of CSI: CYBER.”
The episode circled around the discovery of the U.S. goverrnment being hacked by someone who has already proven they have access to some of government’s most sensitive files. And was not afraid to show this proof to some of the country’s most sought out leading intelligence figures.
So Avery and her people had a lot on their hands. This “proof” which was the SF-86 file was what each potential government employer had to fill out before they could be given a job with the federal government. And the file pretty mush goes into detail about every single thing in regards to one person’s life.
In order for the manhunt to be succesful, the team needed Raven who was still waiting around to hear if a judge was going to sentence her to prison. D.B. felt like the team needed her as well as her expertise on this particular case. So he told her to ignore the official ruling by staying on for a few more days and that if someone had a problem with it then they could take it up with him.
Thus, the team started working and found out that the hacker was a teenage boy named Jake Hazelton who accidentally went into the government's system. He was a no threat at all but the person interested in those files, named Jeffery Stevens aka Echo, was.
He clearly wants to get rich by using those files so he adviced Jake to not hand them back to the FBI. The boy clearly sensed harm and fled thanks to a guy named Wizard who distracted Echo and he was killed afterwards with the injuries he had.
The team went into finding Jake and helping him and they were succesful only to be seconds late after Echo found him first, however the FBI were able to recover the hard drive and Krumtiz personally saved Jake’s life. So another problem solved.
