‘Bridget Jones’s Baby’ lead actress Renee Zellweger admitted that imperfection is okay. Zellweger was joined by cast mates Colin Firth and Patrick Dempsey in the film’s world premiere in London last September 5.
According to Stuff.co.nz, Zellweger shared her thoughts on how imperfection is okay. She said, "It's not failure to not succeed… You just go on and do the next thing.”
She continued, “And it's being yourself, being a genuine article… Because there's plenty of people to do the other jobs of what you're not. The appeal is to be unique in your specialness. Be unique."
Zellweger returns to the big screens for the third time to play the iconic Bridget Jones, a clumsy yet charming character from the original book series authored by Helen Fielding. She was first introduced as Bridget in Sharon Maguire’s romantic comedy live-action adaptation ‘Bridget Jones’s Diary’ released in 2001. Zellweger’s performance in the first film earned her a nomination for an Academy Award for Best Actress.
The first film in the series received positive reviews from critics and fans of Fielding’s original novel. It was also considered a financial and commercial success. According to Box Office Mojo, ‘Bridget Jones’s Diary’ earned $281.93 million worldwide on a production budget of $25 million.
A sequel entitled ‘Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason’ followed in 2004 with Zellweger reprising her role as Bridget. She was joined by returning cast members Colin Firth and Hugh Grant, who played Bridget’s love interests Mark Darcy and Daniel Cleaver.
Zellweger and Firth returned for the third installment while Grant did not. It will introduce Patrick Dempsey as Bridget’s new love interest Jack Quant.
The third film follows Bridget as a successful television executive who finds out that she is pregnant. However, she does not know who the father is. She goes on to face motherhood as she tries to guess whether her new boyfriend Jack or her ex-husband Mark is the child’s real father.
Zellweger was joined by cast mates on the red carpet for the film’s September 5 premiere at the Odeon in Leicester Square in West End London, according to The Guardian. Dempsey, in particular, looked blissful as he posed with his wife Jillian and children Sullivan, Darby, and Tallula. The two were struggling with an imminent divorce, which was eventually called off at the end of 2015.
‘Bridget Jones’s Baby’ is an upcoming romantic comedy film scheduled to premiere on September 16, 2016 in the United States. It is directed by Sharon Maguire and written for the big screen by Helen Fielding, Emma Thompson, and Dan Mazer. It is produced by Miramax, StudioCanal, Universal Pictures, and Working Title Films.
