As Channel 4’s misery-inducing anthology series, which was later bought by Netflix, is currently in production, series creator Charlie Brooker has already revealed some secrets about the show’s upcoming episodes.
In an interview with The Telegraph, Brooker has already confirmed that Jodie Foster will be helming an episode in the series. He also shared that the episode will most likely appease indie film fans.
"Then, Jodie Foster's done one, that's more got the tone of an indie movie, an indie drama. There's a mother and daughter relationship in it,” he said.
As for introducing some elements of Foster’s film career in his show, Brooker said fans should expect one, but not in Foster’s episode.
"Weirdly, I realised afterwards that we've got a number from Bugsy Malone in one of the episodes, although not in the same one that she's directing," he clarified.
Another episode will be directed by John Hillcoat, who also helmed “Triple 9” and “Lawless,” Netflix has confirmed. Den of Geek shared that Hillcoat’s episode will feature two female protagonists, with Andrea Riseborough of “Birdman” currently in talks to play one of them. It is not known, however, whether Hillcoat will bring the directing style he is known for in helming teenage friend and frequent collaborator Nick Cave’s music videos.
Brooker also said that although “five and six are slightly still up for grabs,” the show will continue with its tradition of doing different genres per episode.
