'Better Call Saul' Season 2 Episode 3 Review: Amarillo

So it would seem like things are getting mysterious than ever as the hit TV series ‘Better Call Saul’ keeps on dishing out stories after stories that will surely keep its fans wanting for more. Even with the show being constantly compared to its predecessor ‘Breaking Bad’, the series is making a mark on its own with its brighter colour palate, broader humour, slower pace, and lower stakes. And whenever it focuses on Jimmy McGill’s struggle with his own morality, these elements come together to create a compelling, riveting and altogether different television experience.

“Better Call Saul” invites the comparison because the tone and plot of the show occasionally flirt with the atmosphere of dread and danger that gave “Breaking Bad” it’s very particular frisson.

But the show’s recent episode showed a different take than its usual style as Jimmy introduced the world to his alter-ego's flashing neon persona.

Last episode circled around Jimmy McGill having an appointment in the morning with the partners of Davis & Main, the company who will decide whether his TV ad — an appeal for clients that was never approved by the firms’ mandarins — will get him fired. And Mike has been summoned by Nacho and asked if he will take a job as a hit man.

Needless to say, the last episode was all about cliff-hangers and suspense. This is more suspense than what we saw at the end of either of the first two episodes, which seemed completely uninterested in leaving behind a bit of viewer bait. In “Amarillo,” the part where the show somehow is in line with ‘Breaking Bad’s’ style was during Mike’s visit to the veterinarian who doubles as a clearinghouse for underworld jobs.

Many spectacular things are going to be unfold so stay tuned for more updates.
