It has been a few weeks since Apple unveiled the Apple Watch Series 7, but the company has yet to provide dates when the pre-order will start and when the earlier deliveries will begin. However, a new report claims people may be able to start placing orders next week, while shipments could follow soon.
Apple Watch Series 7 could be available this month
Apple reportedly faced production issues with Apple Watch Series 7 not long before its launch in September. That seemed to be corroborated by the fact that Apple was not ready to announce a specific retail launch date at the time the smartwatch was unveiled.
Currently, the Apple Watch Series 7 page on the company’s online store only says it will be “available later this fall.” And a new report from Jon Prosser suggests Apple is likely to achieve that time frame. The leaker says pre-orders could begin next week at the earliest. But Apple might wait until mid-October to start shipping the device.
Apple has confirmed five new colors for the model with aluminum casing, including Green, Blue, (Product) Red, Starlight, and Midnight, that reportedly costs at least $399. The same report said the stainless steel variant would be available in Silver, Graphite, and Gold, while the titanium models will have “Natural” and “Space Black” color options.
Apple Watch Series 7 specs, features
Another absurd thing about the Apple Watch Series 7 is that technical specifications are still unavailable on Apple.com. During the September launch event, there were also key details that the company did not mention, such as the processor that will power the device.
Leaks that came out after the launch may have shed more light on these things. Developer Steve Troughton-Smith found through Xcode that the listed Apple Watch Series 7’s processor was similar to Apple Watch 6 with model number “t8301.”
Meanwhile, an internal document obtained by 9To5Mac indicates the Apple Watch Series 7 will be powered by an “S7 SiP 64-bit dual-core processor.” But the paper says it is 20% faster than the Apple Watch SE, which uses the 2-year-old S5 chip. Without Apple’s confirmation, though, it is best to take these with a grain of salt for now.
The Apple Watch Series 7 will ship with a new design, but not how previous rumors described it. The watch does not have flat edges. The form factor remains curved, while the screen is larger and has thinner bezels. Apple says the device is “crack resistant,” “dust resistant” with IP6X certification, and “water resistant” with a WR50 rating.
