Trump Media & Technology Group said Monday that more than 10 customers have signed up for its upcoming Truth API, a real-time data service designed to provide rapid access to posts from prominent Truth Social accounts, including those of President Donald Trump.
The new service has attracted interest from financial firms seeking faster access to potentially market-moving information. It has also drawn criticism from government watchdogs and congressional Democrats, who have raised concerns about possible conflicts of interest involving Trump, his social media company and the White House.
During Trump Media’s first earnings call, Interim CEO Kevin McGurn said the initial Truth API customers are primarily high-frequency trading firms. According to McGurn, subscribers are paying between $60,000 and $100,000 per month for access to the real-time feed.
Trump Media is also pursuing customers beyond Wall Street. McGurn said the company is holding discussions with hyperscale technology companies, major news organizations and developers of large language models.
Interest in rapid access to Trump’s Truth Social posts stems partly from their ability to influence financial markets. Since Trump returned to the White House, his posts covering issues such as trade agreements, the Iran war and other major policy developments have contributed to sharp moves in oil prices and U.S. stocks.
Critics argue that offering premium access to the president’s posts could allow paying investors to receive potentially significant information more quickly than the wider public. Watchdog organizations and Democratic lawmakers have questioned whether the arrangement creates conflicts between Trump’s government role and the commercial interests of Trump Media.
McGurn has rejected criticism surrounding the Truth API and the company’s plans for the service.
The announcement comes as Trump Media continues to face financial challenges despite increased activity on Truth Social. The company reported a net loss of $238 million on revenue of just $1.7 million. The substantial quarterly loss was driven in part by declines related to Trump Media’s Bitcoin investment.
The Truth API could provide Trump Media with a new source of recurring revenue as the company looks for additional ways to monetize Truth Social and its growing role as a source of political and market-sensitive information.
