Bryan Fuller’s upcoming series on Starz is getting the full marketing campaign it deserves with the latest release of cast and show images.
Geek.com said the cast photos, which were all tweeted first under Fuller’s account, has taken author Neil Gaiman’s imagination into consideration. The first batch of photos showed Ricky Whittle as the protagonist Shadow Moon, Emily Browning as his deceased fiance Laura Moon, and Ian McShane as his mysterious employer Mister Wednesday. We are also introduced to the Goddess of Love Bilquis, also known as the Queen of Sheba, who is excellently portrayed by Yetide Badaki.
The second batch of photos showed the rest of the Old and New Gods who will be playing vital roles in a brewing war for power. The photos showed Orlando Jones as Mr. Nancy, the trickster god, Pablo Schreiber as Mad Sweeny, Kristin Chenoweth plays Easter, or Eostre, the pagan Goddess of Spring and fertility, and Bruce Langley as Technical Boy.
Perhaps the two, other important characters were Peter Stormare as Czernobog, one of the first gods Shadow will meet after his employer. Crispin Glover as Mr. World is set to become a significant force in the war for the New Gods.
To sum up the synopsis of the war, Starz also paid homage to classic pieces of American art and added a tech twist, Mashable noted. The images were inspired from Grant Wood's “American Gothic,” Edward Hopper's “Nighthawks,” and Norman Rockwell's “Cousin Reginald Plays Tickly Bender.”
“American Gods” is set to debut on April 30. Episodes will also be shown on Amazon Prime UK beginning the first of May, Den of Geek said.
