On Saturday, the entire cast and crew of Starz’ highly-anticipated television series “American Gods” partake in a panel discussion at the 2017 South by Southwest (SXSW) convention. Attendees were in for a treat as they disclose some juicy details about the show ahead of its premiere, which will debut on April 30.
Bryan Fuller, who currently helms the series, divulged an interesting detail: Emily Browning, who plays Shadow Moon’s wife, Laura Moon, has also been assigned to play Essie Tregowan. Essie first appears in the book’s Chapter Four as a con artist, thief, and prostitute, and plays a pivotal role in Mad Sweeney’s success in America.
Browning, who was initially hesitant about the second role, explained her decision before blurting out that her second role was supposedly a secret, “... At the same time, the way that the character’s written, it’s so perfect and amazing, and I just knew — I’m like, if they ask me, I’m not — there’s no way I’m going to say no.”
Aside from Browning, Ricky Whittle, Pablo Schreiber, Ian McShane, Bruce Langley, Yetide Badaki, Orlando Jones, Jonathan Tucker, and Betty Gilpin makes up the cast of “American Gods,” Nerdist reported.
On the other hand, Fuller said the show has some sort of parallelism with what’s going on in the US today. He said, “It’s definitely a different show that we set out to make because the political climate in American shat its pants … so we have a strange new platform to start a different conversation.”
