“Age of Empires 4” was a no-show during this year’s Gamescom, partially disappointing fans who have been waiting for the big reveal that Microsoft and Relic Entertainment have planned. As such, XO will now be the official event that will host the franchise’s next entry.
The conference is slated to take place on Nov. 14 to 16 and will be held at the Copper Box Arena in London. Apart from “Age of Empires 4,” XO will also be hosting the release date of “Age of Empires II: Definitive Edition.”
The remaster’s arrival is a welcome salve since the sequel isn’t expected to come out until the latter quarter of 2020. Or maybe even later. It’s difficult to tell what sort of progress the developers have made on “Age of Empires 4” as both Microsoft and Relic are maintaining their silence about the title, PCGamer reported.
Age of Empires 4 is making great progress
However, they did say that Relic has made considerable progress and that Microsoft has been impressed by what the studio has done so far. Assuring as these statements are, it doesn’t provide the fan base with concrete information about “Age of Empires 4.”
What’s certain at the moment is that the music for the game will highly likely be phenomenal since Microsoft has brought in composer Mikolai Stroinski. Stroinski spearheaded the soundtrack development of the “Witcher 3” so there’s no reason to doubt his work in “Age of Empires 4.”
Age of Empires 4 and future entries are in good hands
The composer himself appears to be quite ecstatic being part of the game’s development process and said that it has “been a blast” working on it so far. Unfortunately, Stroinski hasn’t provided any clue about “Age of Empires 4” either.
As for the future of the franchise, Microsoft seems committed to supporting it in the long run as it created a dedicated studio to oversee its operation and expansion. Indeed, after “Age of Empires 4” and the Definitive Edition of the third installment rolls out, it’s expected that the developers’ attention will shift towards “Age of Mythology.” Isgreen has already confirmed this information although he didn’t provide any sort of roadmap how they’ll be approaching this moving forward.
