iOS 9.1 Released With Major Bug Fixes And Improvements

Apple has finally released iOS 9.1 to the public with new features, improvements and bug fixes. With the latest update, the company has improved Live Photos with motion sensing capabilities to identify when a user raises and lowers their phone, and also adding over 150 new emoji characters, Apple Insider reported.

Users can download the update through the Settings app on their iPhone, iPad or iPod touch, and it can also be obtained through iTunes on a Mac or PC.

Apple says the update includes:

  • Live Photos now intelligently senses when you raise or lower your iPhone, so that Live Photos will automatically not record those movements
  • Over 150 new emoji characters will full support for Unicode 7.0 and 8.0 emojis

Moreover, compatibility for the forthcoming fourth-generation Apple TV and iPad Pro has been also included in iOS 9.1.

Forbes lists the various bug fixes and performance improvements made in iOS 9.1:

  • Improved stability for CarPlay, Music, Photos, Safari and Search
  • Improved Multitasking user interface performance
  • Fixed issues such as unresponsive Calendar app in the Month view and crashing Game Center
  • Fixed issues such as where content of an app was zoomed into unnecessarily for some iOS users and activation errors on some carriers
  • Fixed issues including a bug that caused an incorrect unread mail count for POP mail accounts, where users were prevented from removing recent contacts from new mail or messages, non-appearance of messages in Mail search results for some users
  • A bug where a gray bar in the body of an Audio Message remained has been fixed along with the one that prevented some apps from updating from the App Store
