Lecturer in Psychosocial Analysis of Offending Behaviour, Edge Hill University
I am a Lecturer in Psychosocial Analysis of Offending Behaviour in the Department of Applied Health and Social Care. My primary research interests are youth justice, youth crime, and social justice, specifically the promotion of service user involvement and the application of a shared decision making model in a criminal justice context. I was awarded Outstanding Paper in the 2015 Emerald Literati Network Awards for Excellence for my peer reviewed publication in Safer Communities on the benefits of participation for young offenders.
I was previously a Trustee of the National Association for Youth Justice where I campaigned for a child friendly youth justice and advocated the establishment of a rights-based statutory framework. I am currently an advisor at social justice charity Peer Power an organisation rooted in the promotion of empathy. At Peer Power I work with those most excluded and not heard in society, often with experiences of social care and youth justice agencies.
