Dr. Blake Brown is an Associate Professor in the Department of History at Saint Mary’s University and is an Adjunct Professor at the Schulich School of Law of Dalhousie University. He is a the author of A History of Law in Canada: Beginnings to 1866 (University of Toronto Press, forthcoming), Arming and Disarming: A History of Gun Control in Canada (University of Toronto Press, 2012), and A Trying Question: The Jury in Nineteenth-Century Canada (University of Toronto Press, 2009). He is currently writing a book on the history of medical malpractice law in Canada. His articles have appeared in journals such as the Canadian Historical Review, Canadian Journal of Law and Society, the American Journal of Legal History, and the Journal of Law & Social Inquiry.
