Eleanor Zeff

Associate Professor of Political Science, Drake University

Eleanor Zeff is an Associate Professor in the Department of Political Science at Drake University. She has been the Fulbright Program Adviser and the University Coordinator for Post-Graduate Opportunities. She participates on the Advisory Board of Annual Editions’ Comparative Politics, and is a member of the American Political Science Association, and the European Union Studies (EUSA) and International Studies (ISA) Associations. Zeff also serves on several community boards with international/global interests.

Zeff received her B.A. from Tufts University and her M.A. and Ph.D. degrees from the Graduate Faculty of the New School for Social Research in New York City. Her thesis dealt with regime change and the differences between Civilian and Military Regimes in Ghana. She has articles published on Africa in the African Studies Review, the Journal of African Studies and the Journal of Strategic Studies.

Zeff also has publications on Europe and especially on European Union politics, Developing Areas and Women in Politics. She has co-edited three books on "The European Union and the Member States". She also has written on Active Learning (SoTL), including a Pew Case Study and on using simulations for Teaching the EU. Her courses include Comparative Politics, Comparative Parliamentary Systems, Politics of Developing Areas, Transitions to Democracy, European Integration, Nationalism, Government and Politics in Europe, Model EU, and Immigration Policies in the US and Europe. She received Drake University's Levitt Mentor of the Year Award in 2006 and the University's Ron and Jane Olson Award for Global Service Learning in 2016.
