Simon van Schalkwyk

Lecturer of English, University of the Witwatersrand

Simon van Schalkwyk completed his Honours at the University of Cape Town, and an MA in Modern and Contemporary Poetry at the University of Bristol in the United Kingdom. He then worked as a junior assistant lecturer in the Department of English Language and Literature at UCT before commencing doctoral work on the translations of the mid-C20th American poet, Robert Lowell. In 2014, he was awarded a lecturing position in the Department of Literature, Language and Media at the University of the Witwatersrand.

Teaching and Supervision

Dr van Schalkwyk teaches American and World literature with an emphasis on poetry, travel and transnational modernism.
