Associate Professor of Political Science, Masaryk University
Vít studied history and political science at the Faculty of Arts and Faculty of Social Studies at Masaryk University (1995-2000). From 2000-2003 he completed doctoral studies in Political Science at the Faculty of Social Studies at Masaryk University. In 2007 he qualified for the field of political science.

He focuses on issues of comparative politics, especially in a comparison of political party systems of the European countries, research on contemporary history, and the formation and development of modern mass politics in Central Europe. He teaches focuses on comparative politics and contemporary European political history.

He is the author of numerous articles in professional journals and anthologies, editor of several publications, the author of the monograph Conflict versus consensus. Cleavages, Political Parties and Party Systems in Austria, 1860-2006 (Brno 2008) and co-author of monographs Origin, Ideology and Transformation of Political Parties. East-Central and Western Europe Compared (with L. Hill, Aldershot 2010), Political Parties of modern Europe. The analysis of party systems (with M. STRMISKA, L. and R. Kopečkem Chytilkem, Praha 2005), Conflicting democracy. Modern mass politics in Central Europe (with L. Kopecky, Brno 2004) and the Political System of the Czech Lands 1848-1989 (with S. packages, J. Holzer, and J. Gray, Brno 2003).
