Ifesinachi Okafor-Yarwood

PhD student in Leadership with reference to Security and Development, King's College London
Ifesinachi holds a preparatory diploma in Law and a joint BA in International Relations, Peace and Conflict Studies from London Metropolitan University. She also holds a Master’s degree in Conflict, Security and Development, obtained from King’s College London in 2013. Ifesinachi is an Associate Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and a PLuS Alliance Interdisciplinary Research Fellow.
Her PhD research looks at Nigeria in the context of illegal, unreported and unregulated fishing in the Gulf of Guinea: human and national security dimensions of maritime security.
Her latest publication by Marine Policy titled, ‘illegal, unreported and unregulated fishing and the complexities of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) for countries in the Gulf of Guinea’ argues that the prevalence of IUU fishing in the Gulf of Guinea threatens the abilities of the region to attain some of the SDGs by 2030.
