WSJ. Magazine Celebrates Sixth Anniversary of the Innovator Awards

NEW YORK, Nov. 03, 2016 -- WSJ. Magazine hosted its sixth annual Innovator Awards at the Museum of Modern Art in New York City last night. Seven trailblazing talents, all of whom are featured in the magazine’s November issue, were honored among more than 200 guests for their groundbreaking accomplishments in their respective disciplines.

Selected by WSJ. Magazine editors, the honorees were: Ai Weiwei (Art), Es Devlin (Design), Daniel Humm & Will Guidara (Food), Melinda Gates (Philanthropy), Craig Dykers & Kjetil Trædal Thorsen of Snøhetta (Architecture), Tom Ford (Film), and The Weeknd (Music). Each winner was presented with an award designed by the 2011 Design winner, Joris Laarman.

Film | Tom Ford: The designer had been at the top of the fashion world for over two decades when he decided to risk it all by launching a career as a film director. Now he’s back with a second film, Nocturnal Animals, that showcases his singular aesthetic. Award presented by Colin Firth

Music | The Weeknd: As a follow-up to the unstoppable Beauty Behind the Madness, the chart-topping (and now cover star) R&B artist takes a creative leap forward with this month’s Starboys. Award presented by Naomi Campbell
