SAN FRANCISCO, Jan. 24, 2018 -- Udemy, the global marketplace for learning and teaching online, announced the addition of more than a dozen courses to its Yoga and Meditation category. The strategic expansion comes in response to the category’s increasing popularity on the platform and will include a new course from Udemy instructor Deepak Chopra, the world-renowned pioneer in mind-body medicine and personal transformation, among many others.
“As our marketplace continues to grow, it is important that the depth of our course library grows along with it,” says Frank Visciano, vice president of marketplace content and operations at Udemy. “We listen to our students and strive to provide them with the freshest, most relevant, and desired content. We will continue to expand some of the most sought-after categories throughout the year, and today we’re excited to announce even more courses in our yoga and meditation vertical.”
Udemy’s course selection is fueled by instructors contributing their subject-matter expertise. Today, more than 30,000 instructors share their knowledge in over 65,000 courses on the Udemy platform. To offer the greatest variety, the company established content partnerships with well-known and respected figures in the yoga and meditation space, to bring topics ranging from yoga medicine to stress management through mindfulness.
Among the newly launched courses is “Radical Being: An Intro to ISHTA Yoga with Deepak Chopra,” taught by Udemy instructor veteran Deepak Chopra, partnered with his personal yoga teacher Sarah Platt Finger and her husband. The course is specifically designed for beginners in both yoga and meditation practices. “I’m so excited about publishing my first Udemy course. With two-thirds of Udemy’s students living outside of the United States, Udemy can bring our practice to corners of the world that we haven’t yet been able to reach,” explained Platt Finger.
“My Udemy courses enable me to teach what I love to a massive audience, while still maintaining a very personal experience with my students,” said instructor Dashama Konah, an innovator in the field of yoga, health, and fitness. “It’s invaluable to read my students’ reviews — it’s not only a learning experience for them, but for me as well. These insights helped me create my third course and have added value to my general teachings too.” Konah’s course takes her students on a virtual vacation to learn yoga, meditation, and mindfulness basics in “Online Yoga Retreat in the Maldives.”
Udemy will continue expanding course categories that are in increasing demand from students. For more information about becoming a Udemy instructor, please click here.
