The United States will ramp up military sales to India from 2025, eventually supplying F-35 fighter jets, U.S. President Donald Trump announced during a joint press conference with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The move strengthens defense ties between the two nations amid regional security concerns.
Trump also revealed that India will increase imports of U.S. oil and gas, a step aimed at reducing the trade deficit. The energy deal marks a significant boost in economic cooperation between Washington and New Delhi.
Additionally, both leaders pledged to collaborate on counterterrorism efforts, with Trump emphasizing the need to address "the threat of radical Islamic terrorism." This aligns with India's ongoing security challenges and strengthens bilateral commitments in the global fight against extremism.
The growing U.S.-India partnership underscores Washington’s strategic interest in the Indo-Pacific region. Strengthening military ties and energy trade reflects the deepening alliance, which is expected to shape geopolitical dynamics in the coming years.
