BOSTON, March 12, 2018 -- Margaret Duffy, Chair of the Board of Directors (the “Board”) of The New Ireland Fund (NYSE:IRL) (the “Fund”), a closed-end investment company, will ring The Opening Bell® tomorrow morning at the New York Stock Exchange (“NYSE”). Sean Hawkshaw, CEO of the Fund’s investment adviser, Dublin-based asset manager KBI Global Investors (“KBIGI”), and Director and President of the Fund, will join Ms. Duffy in the bell ringing.
The Fund is celebrating its recent successful capital raise and the sustained economic recovery of Ireland. The Fund is the only actively managed closed-end registered investment company listed on the NYSE investing primarily in Irish equities.
The Fund’s investment objective is long-term capital appreciation through investment primarily in equity securities of Irish companies. Since 2011, Ireland has been among the strongest growing economies in Europe, and its economic performance has outpaced the broader Eurozone.
