CLEARWATER, Fla., April 13, 2016 -- Tech Data Corporation (Nasdaq:TECD) today announced the introduction of its Cisco Managed Security Proof of Value (POV) assessment program, a free consultative security assessment that identifies potential security risks and threats for end users. Offered through Tech Data’s Cisco Solutions Group, the program offers solution providers a comprehensive security assessment for their customers, along with business outcome sales positioning, simplified management, and ongoing Tech Data solutions support. The announcement was made in conjunction with Tech Data’s TechSelect Spring Partner Conference, taking place this week at the Westin La Paloma Resort & Spa in Tucson, Arizona.
“As both the managed security services and overall cybersecurity markets continue to exponentially increase, our solution providers need a simplified route to market for security services and solutions for the threats that their customers face every day,” said Angie Beltz, vice president, Cisco Solutions Group at Tech Data. “We are excited to expand our exclusive Cisco Momentum program to include a full-lifecycle security solution and provide our partners with specialized support. Our expansion of this strategy is a game-changer for Tech Data and the Cisco distribution channel, reinforcing our commitment to enabling profitable growth for our partners.”
The Managed Security POV assessment is a two-week program provided by Tech Data’s partner-led professional services division, Signature Technology Group (STG). The assessment is non-intrusive and provides end users with visibility into potential threats such as malware, bots and other cybersecurity risks. Once the assessment has been completed, Tech Data’s security engineers carefully analyze the data and present it to our partners with customized solutions, which solution providers can then present to their clients. The Managed Security POV assessment is the latest extension of Momentum, Tech Data’s exclusive Cisco partner enablement program that has been the foundation for successful Cisco 2 Tier partner expansion for more than five years.
“As the digitization of customers’ business processes increases, security becomes even more critical and poses a challenge for many of our channel partners to address at scale," said Andrew Sage, vice president, Americas Distribution at Cisco. “Tech Data’s Cisco Managed Service Proof of Value Assessment Program provides partners with an onramp for growing their security practices, while at the same time offering customers free security posture assessments.”
Tech Data continues to add value with new pillars in its Cisco enablement process, giving solution providers access to a full-lifecycle solution for their Cisco Security practices, from foundational training to road-mapping and post-specialization support. Since Tech Data acquired STG in 2015, it has strengthened its portfolio with the addition of partner-led professional services, including assessment, design, consultation, integration and deployment, as well as staff augmentation. Tech Data is using these core capabilities as a platform to drive practice expansion for partners with key vendor solutions, including Cisco Security.
“We have started including Tech Data’s Cisco Managed Security POV assessments as the centerpiece of our emerging security practice,” said Doug Tate, CEO and owner at Alpha Technologies. “While most clients are concerned about security, they still find it complex and costly to monitor and manage threats in a proactive way. These assessments have allowed us to show customers what is occurring within their networks and what steps can be taken to mitigate and prevent future issues, allowing us to close more opportunities and expand into different markets.”
